The SquareBrowser Android app has no servers, no analytics, no data collection of any kind. Zero bytes of your browsing data ever leave your device. This website you're reading right now uses limited, anonymous analytics to help us improve it โ see Section 2 below.
SquareBrowser is built on a simple principle: your browsing is your business, not ours. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information within the app โ which is to say, we don't handle it at all, because it never reaches us.
This policy also covers this marketing website (squarebrowser.com), which is a separate, ordinary website distinct from the app itself. Its analytics use is disclosed in Section 2.
By using SquareBrowser, you agree to this local-first approach to your data.
This marketing website โ the pages you're browsing at squarebrowser.com โ uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (e.g. anonymized heatmaps and session behavior), so we can improve it.
Clarity is scoped entirely to this website. It is not present in the SquareBrowser Android app, does not run while you are browsing inside the app, and has no access to your browsing history, bookmarks, or usage statistics, which remain local to your device as described below.
You can read Microsoft's own policy for Clarity at Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
The app collects nothing. SquareBrowser does not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal information on external servers. There are no external servers.
The following data is stored exclusively on your device using Android's private local storage, accessible only through the app:
None of this data is transmitted anywhere. It cannot be accessed by other apps. It exists only on your device, for your personal use.
SquareBrowser intentionally does not provide a "clear history" function. This is a core feature, not an oversight. The permanent, local history exists to support personal accountability โ to help you see, honestly, where your time online is going.
The history record is only visible to you, only within the app, and only on your device. It is never shared with us, with advertisers, with your employer, or with anyone else. Permanence here means it persists for your own benefit โ not for anyone else's access.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your app data with third parties. We have no advertising partners. We have no data brokers. We have no business relationships that involve your app data because it never comes to us. The only third-party service involved anywhere in the SquareBrowser project is the anonymous website analytics described in Section 2, which is limited to this website.
SquareBrowser the app contains no analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no Crashlytics, no Microsoft Clarity). The app makes no background network requests on your behalf for tracking purposes. All network activity in the app is the browsing activity you initiate.
You don't have to take our word for it. SquareBrowser is open source. The complete source code is available on GitHub for anyone to inspect, audit, and verify these claims.
SquareBrowser does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since the app collects no information from anyone, this is straightforwardly satisfied. This website's anonymous analytics are not used to identify or target children.
If we ever change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the "last updated" date above. We will not retroactively apply changes to data we don't have.
